Locally owned and operated
Ask your driver about their other life.
That's Hop On's own advice, from its team page. The riders who review Hop On tend to name the driver.
In Hop On's words
The team.
"We try to give an authentic Charlottesville Experience by employing a wide variety of personalities in the Cville Area. Each driver brings their own alter ego to keep up with yours. Just like each of our tours, your driver will get better as the day goes on."
Riders' reviews from the last two years name Allen, Keith, Lewis and Sharon, and one rider's Valentine's Day driver "came in on her day off to cover for someone."
The idea
Everyone gets back on.
"They'll get off on their stops, you'll get off on yours, but at the end of the day, everyone gets back on and it's a great way to meet people and come back to Charlottesville with 14 new friends."
Local press named André Xavier and Jon Craig as Hop On's co-owners in 2017 and its co-founders in 2019. Hop On's site says it was formed in 2016, the year NBC4 Washington covered the tours; its Facebook page counted nine years in September 2024.
The company
Tours by the seat, buses by the hour.
Hop On runs the public hop-on tours, sold by the seat, and hires out its 14-, 18-, 22-, 28-, 30- and 46-passenger buses for private tours, companies and weddings. It is licensed by the Virginia DMV as contract passenger carrier #1457.
#DrinkLocal #ExploreLocal #RideLocal
The hashtags are on Hop On's site and printed on the side of the buses: local drinks, local places, and a ride there and back.
